About Hixson, Tennessee
Inside the corporate city boundaries of Chattanooga is the unincorporated community of Hixson. Hixson is in Hamilton County, along I75 and I24, and because it is surrounded by the city of Chattanooga it shares all the benefits of Chattanooga, without all the taxes.
When driving through Hixson, there are several hotels to accommodate you and your family, one of which is the Holiday Inn Suites. Of course, the residents have access to the city and all that it holds, which includes the museums, shopping, city events, the unbelievable jazz and country music and much more. There is plenty to see and do – take a ride on the riverboat, Southern Belle, the Rock City Gardens that is a famous tourist attraction and there are six different museums in Chattanooga, including the Hunter Museum of Art which is fabulous, both inside and out.
Chattanooga is located on a plateau in the Chattanooga and the Appalachian mountains and there are trains and trams that ride up Lookout Mountain to see the view. If you'd rather stay on the ground, the famous 'Riverbend' Festival takes place the second week in June every year, with fireworks, food and fun!
Hixson is a part of all that is going on in thriving Chattanooga. New housing developments and shopping centers are springing up, and in an era where money is tight and inflated, this is known as the area where you get the 'best bang for your buck!'
